I´ve lived in Brasil for years, and it is clear that Brasil´s sense and system of justice is dysfunctional - from top to bottom. It is not uncommon for criminals to walk while the vicims suffer in anguish. With the case of Battisti, Brasil has exceptionally demonstrated to the world in general, and Italy in particular that the justice system in this country is in need of some serious reform...something unlikely to happen anytime soon, unfortunately. Brasil has many good qualities and beautiful people, but they still have a long way to go to transcend the "banana republic" operational mentality.
